I got my first SLR camera when I was 12 and I've been looking at life through a lens ever since. 

The motivations behind my photos can vary.  I love to travel and for me the experience of being in a new place is completely entwined with my love for photography. I almost can't imagine exploring new places without capturing images of what I see around me at the same time. 

I am also driven by the challenges of images that can be difficult to capture.  I think that is part of what makes me enjoy photographing birds and other wildlife so much (something that my kids love to make fun me about.) 

The other big motivation behind my work is as a creative outlet. I have been exploring and experimenting with infrared photography for over 10 years now and my approach and processes have continued to evolve over that time, as has the look of the images I've created as I try new processing techniques and get more experience under my belt. I find it an exciting, fun and stimulating type of photography as it produces works that are a mix of the familiar and the unexpected at the same time, often with bright or rich colors that serve to stimulate the mind and lift the mood. 

Finally, not much of what I enjoy about photography would be possible without being able to share the results because it makes me happy to see my images bring joy to others. Sometimes that joy comes from capturing a moment that mattered to the viewer themselves because they have a personal connection to it and other times it's simply because they find surprise or delight in seeing something through a new or different perspective.  My hope is that my photography business will allow me to offer people things that could make them just a little bit happy that they can enjoy themselves in their own homes time and again for a long time to come.
